Domiciliary care worker removed from the Register because of serious safeguarding concerns

| Social Care Wales

A domiciliary care worker from Cardiff has been removed from the Register of Social Care Workers after a Social Care Wales hearing found her fitness to practise was currently impaired.

Emma Fagg was suspended from her care role in July 2020 because of serious safeguarding concerns.

After considering the evidence, the panel concluded that Ms Fagg’s fitness to practise was currently impaired because of serious safeguarding concerns.

Explaining its decision, the panel said: “Ms Fagg has demonstrated a lack of insight into her conduct.

The panel continued: “She has not expressed any regret or remorse regarding her behaviour and we are not confident that her conduct is highly unlikely to be repeated.”

The panel added: “We have not been provided with any evidence to suggest that [Ms Fagg] has taken any steps to address her behaviour.”

The panel decided to remove Ms Fagg from the Register, saying: “In our view [it] is the only outcome which meets the need to protect members of the public and the need to protect public confidence.”

Ms Fagg has the right of appeal to the Care Standards Tribunal within 28 days.

Ms Fagg was not present at the one-day hearing, which was held over Zoom last week.
